goodbye-2010-hello-2011

It’s good to be back though the site still looks like a construction siteJ. The content is being uploaded, the categories and tabs are being shuffled, and different layouts pop up and disappear.

But I don’t see the mess. All I see is the exciting fact that Boys Be Cool had grown enough to warrant these changes! When I launched BBC in January 2010, I wanted to find sisters and brothers in style, boys’ parents who shared my conviction that Boys Had Style Too!  We just had to be more creative, more resourceful to dress our boys like stars on a tight budget.

I wanted to create a community, where we, the chic-onomic parents of boys could get together, share our shopping resources, cool finds, styling tips, show off the amazing outfits we created for our little dudes and just chat and have fun. I think I succeeded because the BBC tribe is growing and we even needed bigger and better playground to accommodate our growth!

The Story. One of the most impressive success stories in the kids’ fashion started in Side Polish diner on the East Side, where Harald and Lynn Husum were brainstorming business ideas. Living in post 9/11 NYC they wanted crisis -proof business. Babies and pets made it to the top of the list, - and luckily, babies won. Harald, talented graphic designer from Norway had always been into t-shirts. So, when the idea to create cool, tiny t-shirts based solely on what the parents loved came up, it felt right. Though this sounds quite “mainstream” now, nobody was doing it 7 years ago. Harald’s sense of style, his talent as a graphic designer, his fascination with the NYC cultural explosion and art scene found the perfect medium. Appaman line was born.

SM_Kids_introductionOnly one more week until this anxiously anticipated collection hits the virtual shelves on November 3rd. Stella McCartney, inspired by her tremendously successful collaboration with GAP decided to leave her eco-conscious footprints on the kids’ fashion fertile soil.

In Stella McCartney Kids launch collection designer adheres to her signature unfussy design aesthetics. The lines are simple, colors are mostly neutral: black, grey, brown, blue with the occasional pops of cerulean and bright yellow of the rain boots.  Cropped navy jacket is definitely a nod to the widely popular Sergeant Pepper band jacket designed for her first collaboration with GAP.
